Matt Holmes, CPA, CA, is the co-founder of Holmes Riseley CPAs and Tax Advisors, created with a mission to bring his specialized tax expertise to local clients in central Ontario. With more than 25 years of experience in tax planning, tax reporting, and business planning, Matt is relied upon by his clients for his trustworthy advice when making changes to business structures and expert tax knowledge. He frequently works with businesses on family succession, business continuity, mergers and acquisitions, and other tax-saving strategies. With over two decades of experience, his ability to provide forward-thinking advice has saved his clients hundreds of millions in tax dollars and has earned him a reputation as one of the province’s top tax planning experts.
Prior to founding his firm, Matt worked as a partner at a national accounting firm Peterborough.

Michael Riseley

Michael is the co-founder of Holmes Riseley CPAs and Tax Advisors and brings with him over a decade of experience in accounting and business valuation services. He is responsible for the management of compilation and review engagements for corporate clients and advises on income tax matters for both corporate and personal clients. Michael is relied upon for his business valuation background and provides industry-leading advisory services by identifying value drivers and growth areas for businesses to maximize their value in a potential sale or assisting them through other corporate matters.
Michael was the founder of MTR Valuation Services and previously worked as Vice President at a local credit union and in various roles in public accounting firms. He also volunteers his time at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre Foundation as Treasurer and Chair of the Finance and Investment Committee and lives in the region with his wife.

Jess Clancy

Jess joins the team with more than a decade of experience working with small to medium-sized businesses in the Peterborough area. She is a widely respected accountant known for her in-depth expertise in tax planning and implementation of corporate reorganization strategies resulting in substantial tax savings for clients. Jess works with clients on personal, corporate, and estate tax as well as business and farm transition planning. Jess has been specialized in Canadian Income Tax for over 5 years.
Prior to joining Holmes Riseley CPAs and Tax Advisors, Jess worked for over a decade at a national Accounting firm. She lives in the Peterborough area with her husband and children.

Katie McLaughlin

Katie brings over 5 years of experience in public accounting to her role at Holmes Riseley CPAs and Tax Advisors. She is relied upon for year-end completion of engagements including compilations and reviews for corporate clients along with quality control and compliance with accounting standards. Katie brings in-depth knowledge in assurance engagements and works with clients to plan and execute efficient engagements that meet their specific needs. She works closely with her clients in the manufacturing, agriculture, and private sectors. Katie previously worked at a national accounting firm, where she concentrated on assurance assignments.
Katie lives in Ennismore with her partner and currently volunteers as Treasurer for the Lindsay Curling Club.

Linda Romig

Linda brings with her over two decades of experience in bookkeeping and public accounting. She works closely with clients on the preparation of their financial statements and corporate tax returns and is known for her in-depth knowledge of accounting and corporate tax matters. Linda provides a high level of customer service and ensures industry-leading standards of quality control and compliance. She is consistently recognized by clients for her quick response and attention to detail. Linda previously worked for over a decade at a national accounting firm.
Linda lives in the Peterborough area with her husband and family.

Courtney Smith

Courtney brings with her more than a decade of experience in accounting and tax advisory services. Her primary areas of specialty advising include the purchase and sale of businesses and succession planning, corporate business owners and owner compensation strategies, estate planning, and agriculture and family-farm transitions. Courtney is relied upon for her expert tax minimizing advice spanning various industries including professionals, real estate and construction, hospitality and tourism, technology, and automotive.
Before joining the team, she worked for small and medium-sized companies, including a national accounting firm. Courtney currently volunteers with Fleming College on a program advisory committee and lives in Peterborough.

Michael brings over 5 years of experience in public accounting and corporate finance to the Holmes Riseley team. Prior to joining, Michael worked for national accounting firms and as a Finance Manager for a large private distribution company.
Michael is relied upon for year-end completion of engagements including compilations and reviews for corporate clients and works with clients to meet their specific accounting, tax, or advisory needs. He works closely with his clients in manufacturing, health care and the private sectors.
Michael lives in Peterborough Ontario with his wife and is currently volunteering on the Allied Professional Advisory Council for the Peterborough Regional Health Centre Foundation.

Tricia Sullivan

Tricia joins the Holmes Riseley CPAs and Tax Advisors team with over 15 years of experience in client case coordination and executive assistance management. She works closely with all members of the team to ensure the needs of clients are met while exceeding the high service standards set internally for superior client experience. She is frequently working with other professionals and partner agencies to advance the needs of clients throughout their planning. Tricia provides expert organizational skills and operational management and is recognized by clients for her attention to detail and personal care on all client files. Prior to joining the team, Tricia worked as an executive assistant and case coordinator at a local firm.
Tricia lives in the Peterborough area with her husband and two children and is actively involved in the Parent Council at her children’s school and community initiatives dedicated to improving the lives of disadvantaged youth.

Sarah Wade

She brings with her experience in bookkeeping and tax preparation and works closely with the team to ensure accuracy and the highest level of client satisfaction. Having worked in financial and administrative roles for several years, Sarah is known for her positive attitude and expert discretion, and attention to detail.
Sarah lives in Norwood with her husband and son.
